Pedestrian-friendly cities in Washington?
What are the most pedestrian-friendly cities in Washington?
Seattle would probably be one. I'm guessing Bellingham, probably Spokane & Olympia? Is that about right? Any others that are good that way?
What order would you place the most pedestrian-friendly and least pedestrian-friendly cities/towns in Washington?

For east side, add Wenatchee and surrounding region, they have a nice transit system. Also for west side, I would put Olympia, Silverdale, and Bremerton as high. Vancouver is pretty good too, with excellent links to Portland, OR. College towns will usually have some decent transit options. (Walla Walla and Cheney would be worth checking too)
For worst, that depends.... usually rural counties, BUT Skamania is very rural and has excellent options for elderly and needy + transit routes for commuters. I'm sure there are plenty of small rural towns that offer nothing, and plenty of under served urban areas. I'm not keen on some of the limited options in parts of Metro Seattle.

Shelton is pretty bad for pedestrians. Many parts of that town have no sidewalks.

Put down Tri-Cities as less so than most. While it has a good daytime bus system, in the evening forget it; it is very spread out; rivers divide up the area and are extensive to cross on foot. Physically the area is probably about the same acreage as Spokane, but less than half the people. It's not too bad for cycling, though, as there are numerous disused side streets. However, there are a lot of hills. You would definitely get your workout.

Do you mean to include public transit in your rankings or are you only interested in how easily a pedestrian (a person who travels on foot) can attend to his daily needs?

Renton isn't bad as a pedestrian friendly city. The sidewalks aren't wide enough for my taste, but there are restaurants, movies, supermarkets, drug stores, bars, live theatre, farmers market, etc all within walking distance.

I would add Bainbridge Island with the walk on ferry to Seattle as well as being bike friendly. They have a pretty good transit system to allow you to walk on the ferry considering how small it is. They also have a trail system along the waterfront that allows walking all the way to the other side of town.

We chose to move to Walla Walla just for this specific reason. We bought a house near the Main Street core and so far we rarely use our car. Also very bicycle friendly.
