Cool Temporary stay in Washington

I am a college student from California and have a summer internship in Washington. The internship is unpaid, so I plan on getting a temp job (retail, restaurant, etc). Would I be able to get a job even though I am not a resident? I will only be in Washington June through August, so I don't know if I need to fill out any paper work. Do I need to get a Washington driver's license and register my car in the state?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

oooooh! Good question. I'll be curious to find the answer to this. It' an interesting scenario.

My understanding is that you have 30 days after establishing residency to get a driver's license and to register your car. However, what is exactly "establishing residency?" And what is "visiting?" I've heard that taking on a job is considered establishing residency but it seems ridiculous to have to convert your driver's license and car registration for two months only to have to do it again once you return to California.

There must be a special provision for college students in your situation. I'm curious too.

Thanks.
