I will be working in Washington for about a year. Will be renting apartment in Washington. Keeping house in Oregon (kids in college) and rental properties. What are the tax implications?

I'm not a tax expert (and you're going to need to consult one), but I'm pretty sure part of it has to do with where your check comes from. If you are still being paid by an Oregon firm, and it's part of your Oregon job, you pay income tax.

Here's a page from the State of Oregon on it, which is not all that helpful, but at least introduces the terms:

I am a Washington resident who is a CPA licensed and working in Oregon. If you are not planning on leaving Oregon permanently, they will still treat you as a resident and tax you on all income from all sources, no matter where you are when you earn the money. Your Oregon income tax return should look pretty much the same as it does now.
