I would recommend Eastern Washington though I understand you like the mountainous parts of Washington. Maybe the Wenatchee/Chelan area as it's definitely right-leaning, is on the edge of the desert but right up against the Cascade Mountains, and is just plain gorgeous.

Here's another place to consider
I was in Marysville today (it is less than an hour north of Seattle)... the neighborhoods were nice, they are much cheaper than Seattle and it is "right-leaning" (more blue collar jobs, and military bases nearby).
They even have a store with a gigantic banner hanging on the top that says "get your HANDGUN jewelry here". If that doesn't mean "right-leaning" I don't know what does!

Handgun Jewelry
oh no....i am looking at a job in Snohomish Cty and that doesn't bode well for this radical liberal librarian. Although I am suffering sticker shock from housing costs. I would be relocating from DFW, TX area where I rent a cute little 2-1-carport for $625. Is there any chance of finding a 2 bedroom for less than $1000 a month? I am dreading the thought of giving up my washer and dryer.....

not to worry, there is plenty of liberal support in Snohomish, doubt if you can find many as right as Colo / Wyo, much less TX ! The 'west side' is a barren wasteland for right leaners, Thank goodness for the "Hamilton Farms" - "Uncle Sam Billboard" at exit 72 I-5 to give us an ocassional 'ray-of-hope'. They mention they get a lot of horn honkers and hand gestures while changing the 'quote'. So much for understanding and accepting 'diversity'. They've had a lot of pressure to sell the sign after 'Al' died.
It is a great landmark, and a good exit for a business, as everyone on I-5 knows how to find you !

Yes, I miss seeing that billboard when I would occasionally head south from Lacey. I used to look forward to the trip just to see that great sign!

You bet you can get something for that... I am in Seattle (a good area, too) and I pay $800/mo for a two bedroom with a W/D... I did have to look for a week, but Snohomish is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper. Try Craigslist & the local classifieds.

Hi grew up in eastern wa - married a western wa guy and lived in Seattle for about two years. So this is a very limited viewpoint but they are very liberal - his whole family was. Spokane is extremely republican - where I grew up. My guess? If you’re fascinated by western wa hit a small rural farmer community. I beleive - most of these in wa state are mostly republican. Kind of a "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" kind of people.

That's a great way to describe us "redneck gun-totin' flag-wavin' truck-drivin' bible thumpin' hillbilly" Republicans! So how did you like Seattle, aullori?

The general attitude that I'm getting is that if you're Republican, you probably won't be happy. That's a real shame that people of only one political group can live happily in a beautiful city such as Seattle. Like I said earlier, I am only too happy to look past politics, but if my neighbors can't do that, then I don't know if I can live there. Still, how do Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane compare? I know Tacoma is a lot less liberal, an I have heard a lot of negative things about it (maybe for that very reason!), and I know that Spokane is very conservative. Any additional info on climate, people, econmy, etc. would be great!

Nope, that isn't the case at all! You may have a more difficult time finding a "Majority Republican" neighborhood, but you can do just fine in any area of the state (except Capitol Hill, as I said earlier).
I had a farm-boy, Marine Corps friend (His family farm painted a grain silo to look like a can of Budweiser...) and he moved to Fremont, the "artistic" area and did just fine.
The only way you won't be happy is if you have to have everyone around you agree without descent. If that's the case, then yes, your choices are limited.
