Bellingham has high property crime rates:
Anacortes murder rate is non-existent, but property crime is a definite problem:
Olympia has a lot of rape, but the other violent crime rate is good. However, property crime is a problem:
You can say the same for Port Angeles:
Gotta love those meth users. What is wrong with these people?

You might consider the Gig Harbor area. Small, yester-year fishing village, now mostly small shops of varying kinds. Still close to Seattle, but kinda off the beaten path with very low crime rates and good schools. Our grand-daughter lived with us for about a year (1st. grade) and we were very impressed. Just one comment on Lynden. I researched this area also and it is famous for having more Christian churches than anywhere else in the nation per capita.

and in a state that is one of the least 'churched'....!! so you can imagine this to be unique. I have never found it to be a problem when visiting or staying there, but I've never lived there, but have friends who do. (they like it very well) Some groups are a bit clannish, especially in response the current growth. I can't imagine Lynden can keep its church stats high for long, it's nothing like the SE USA with a church on every corner, and many in the countryside.

Lynden
Lynden is still a great little town with a main street right out of a Rockwell painting practically.
It does have a lot of churches.....mainly Christian Reform and approx. 70% of its residents are of Dutch ancestry.
Very conservative town and its residents take a lot of pride in it being so unique, i guess.
Major problem.....The NEW CASINO being built that is scheduled to open this fall which many of the locals resent......and IMO.....I don't blame them.
There are enough casinos around already!
Canadians are LOVING this new casino since it will be the one closest to the border.

Family moving to Washington
In this day and age, there is virtually nowhere you can move where there is NO crime, but there are places that have limited crime, if for no other reason, the towns almost too small to be seen- like Sumas (I lived there back in the late '80's). Lynden was nice, too- very quaint, although that may have changed since I left.
Research whereever you hope to move to before you move there- even if the move is job-related. Sumas has a beautiful view- you can see Mount Baker from many places in Sumas and the view is something else. Watch out for the rain- be prepared for flooding and such, but it's still worth considering.
