Default Amount of snow in Rainier, Tenino, and Eatonville

I've researched the weather history for these towns but was wondering what the actual amount of snow has been for this area over the past few years. Would a 4 wheel drive vehicle be necessary if I move to one of these towns?

You can go without the 4WD vehicle. I've lived here all my life, and my parents are from the tenino area, so know it very well. We get occassional snow and when it comes, it is usually a little amount. Most people who have 4WD vehicles never use the 4WD drive feature - and if they do it is for 1 or 2 days a year.

Default Thanks CJMom

Thanks CJMom. Sounds perfect--a lot like Placerville where I live now.

Snow is rare in the Puget Sound area. That large body of water gives us a maritime climate. The frequent cloud covering during the winter months creates a large terrarium, which keeps the heat in. The nights are colder on the clear starlight nights in the winter season.

Default Visiting Rainier and Tenino

Thanks for the info. about snow in Rainier and area. My husband and I are currently visiting your beautiful state. We visited Vancouver and agree with comments on the forum--very pretty but also pricey. Chehalis was a little too conservative for someone who grew up in the Democratic stronghold of Sacramento! We loved Montesano and Elma, but Aberdeen is a little industrial for us.

Tomorrow we will be in Rainier and Yelm and are excited to see the area. It sounds perfect. A lot like the foothills of the Sierra/Nevada without the crowds of people (10-20% growth rate) and the million dollar plus home prices .
