Default Safety in San Juan Islands

Hello--I will be traveling to Friday Harbor and staying there for a few weeks this summer. I will not be staying directly in Friday Harbor, but a little bit outside. Is San Juan Island generally safe place? I am a single female and I haven't been able to find anything on the internet that is too definitive about crime and safety in Friday Harbor and San Juan Island. I am a bit concerned about it being too secluded or isolated. Thanks

... as long as you aren't parking a single-engine next door!

I would not spend 10 seconds worrying about petty crime in the San Juans.

There's always the grave danger of being analyzed by UW's marine biologists. You might find them swarming all over you, taking samples to see how your recent seafood consumption affected you.

The Islands are VERY safe! I have lived here much of my life and I really don't worry about safety the way I might if I were in Seattle or any other 'big' city. I don't even lock my doors at night. Of course, as our population grows we all think more of things like locking doors on our houses and cars, but as far as walking after dark or personal safety anywhere I think this is arguably one of the top 10 safe places on the planet. Check out San Juan Islands Washington -- See the amazing Islands and orca whales! for more Island info and feel free to contact me if you want to know anything more! Have a great time and no worries!
