Red face Dupont- housing developments?

My boyfriend is military, and there is a possibility that we might get stationed at Lewis (I am keeping my fingers crossed that we will) and I was wondering about the neighborhoods in Dupont... townhomes, houses.... either are fine... Are there any new or fairly new housing developments?? I've just been told that Dupont is a really nice place to live by friends who are already stationed up there...

TIA!!

Jessa

Jessa,

I hope your boyfriend gets transferred to Ft. Lewis. It's one of the most requested duty stations in the Army.

Dupont is located right across the freeway from Ft. Lewis and is therefore a very popular choice for military families. Dupont (Northwest Landing) is a planned community with approximately one third of the space dedicated to residential areas, one third commercial and one third open spaces.

There are lots of trails, parks, playgrounds and even a golf course in Dupont. The city center is starting to grow, with two hotels, several restaurants and cafes, small businesses and a gym. The community is regulated with guidelines for maintaining the neighborhoods in good keeping, which gives the town a very clean cut and well maintained appeal.

The housing is mixed between single family residences, condos, town homes and senior living. The values of the homes have appreciated quite a bit over time, but it's still affordable, with home prices starting in the mid $200k's. It's also not difficult find rentals in Dupont.

Dupont is still being developed and it will be a few years until it's in completion phase. At the moment one can still buy new construction homes.
The only thing with the new homes is not to expect a big yard. The homes are fairly close together. This seems to be a trend with most new construction spec homes in our area.

I hope this info is helpful.

Sandy
