I've never experienced the sensation of having my fingertips pricked by needles. I attended needle safety classes from a young age, and had the tools and resources to avoid such incidents.

I too was educated on this matter, and staying away from Frankston Beach helped me greatly. Just Frankston in general really.
Hmmm generally from 5 C and below I feel discomfort and I wear gloves. When it is more than 6 C I just feel my hands cold but I can move them. :P But it depends on the weather. If it windy and cloudy I feel uncomfortable from 8 C and below. From 0 C and below I feel pain in my hands without gloves. My gloves maybe don 't protect my enough though they are from wool. I feel pain again if it is -3 C with gloves. :/
If standing outside for long coupled with high winds and damp air, 3-4°C (37-40°F) is my limit, below that it quickly becomes uncomfortable and i have to warm up my fingers instantly.
8°C still feels fine to me even with rain and high winds.

He wilted and died in an extreme Perth cold snap after temperatures fell to a frigid 8 degrees Celsius.
