At the Corvallis Municipal Airport we saw a maximum temperature of 86 (30) and a minimum of 57 (14.2 or so) yesterday (9/28/10). The day before we ranged from 52 (11.something) to 90 (32.5). The Willamette Valley had a wreck of summer as did much of the U.S. West Coast. I heard that Los Angeles will still check in with one of the coolest Septembers of record in spite of the recent (and short lived) heat wave; this following one of its chilliest summers in recent memory.

Our warm spell is expected to continue for another few days and I find it somewhat ironic now that summer's over, vacations are done with and the kids are back in school.....we're finally getting summer.

I was quoting stats from Greenwich 1971-2000 which is the official 30-year climatic average time period used and a location more indicative for London City.

We're even starting to get a bit of a warm up here much further north in Vancouver. We've had some sun the past few days and temps got into the 70s. As far as Vancouver's climate goes, definitely nothing to complain about compared to what we normally get.

Unfortunately, I don’t have that one (too bad)…because it would really be interesting to look at. The only one I have from a few years back average annual precip for USA. I'll keep looking.

Thanks anyways.

As one might expect with the sunshine figures, I investigated some of the stats for different cities and towns and found the Gulf side of Florida is into a dry spell for October, (under 4", often under 3") while the Atlantic's side is just a slightly-tamer version of their summer rain patterns. (4.5", 5.8", maybe more?)

At 220 hrs for Atlantic coast, that's still roughly 70% chance of sun; equivalent to summer drought conditions in Toronto.

...well that’s Florida for you…the worst weather is normally the best weather somewhere else – lol. The hot/wet season starts to slowly ramp down in Florida in October, so by late in the month it really starts to get dry/sunny even more. Most of October is normally a pretty nice month weather wise in Florida.

Just remember, the sun and warm temps will always be just two roads away from Toronto – the 401 to I-75.
