Wow, I love the NEK and was looking at St. Johnsbury and Littleton, NH for places to relocate. Northern NE has my heart but there doesn't seem to be many job opportunities plus the cost of living(like prop. taxes) feels out of our budget. I do love the area though!

I don't know that much about Wisconsin but I thought winters there would be pretty harsh, yet you say your December averages are in the 30s. How cold can it get?

No below 0F in London so far this year. I'm not really expecting it, considering it hasn't been reported here for 214 years

30s sounds too high for an average -- perhaps it was referring to the highs (which would match pretty well)?

Just looked at Madison, WI. Their average winter is similar to the coldest winters we get. Jan is 25/9 and Dec 30/15. The rest of the year looks similar to Massachusetts, although its precipitation has a low spot in the winter unlike here which is even year around.

Five days so far have had lows below 0, the first being December 3rd with a low of -7 and the lowest being this morning with -14. It was windy last night too, so windchills were in the -35 range. Compared with last year, this winter has gotten off to a harsh start, with snow on the ground (over the hill) continuously since mid-November. Our last day with a high above freezing was November 30th, and day with a low above 32 November 10th. Tonight's forecast is for temperatures to bottom out in the lower -20s, and the warmest temperatures in the forecast are in the lower 20s. Most people here in this struggling economy have barely enough money for housing and food, much less for vacations to tropical climes. In other words, we are stuck in pure freezing hell

No matter how cold it is we haven't seen teens yet, I think we had a low of 20 though which is close to the coldest we typically see throughout Winter. I'm not anticipating temperatures below 0, that's not even on our menu lol, if we even see 15 F it'd probably once or twice, anything below that would certainly be eye catching.
