Bread? What kind of bread? Oh, I hope it's a baguette -- those are my favourite!

I can agree with the mental part…

Seeing those icons I can just imagine that’s what one must do many a mornings when they look out the window at 45 south latitude in New Zealand.

Here are lows for Christchurch, NZ for the next few days (now keep in mind it is the absolute peak of summer there)

Tue: 51
Wed: 44 F
Thur: 44 F (think if the wind is blowing, this is a "summer night).

Summer in the subarctic?

Oh, you're still here? I thought you might have popped out for a nice, refreshing dip in the sea.

It's nice to have someone to do all my whining for me. Why don't you tell them about the sunshine hours here?

Subarctic? No, subantarctic! Remember the discussion we had over the weekend? We learnt about the existance of the southern hemisphere. I know this lesson covered some very complex material (such as the totally counterintuitive fact that, when you're in the southern hemisphere, the equator is located to the north) but please try to remember that the region around the south pole is referred to as the "Antarctic" as opposed to the "Arctic" (from whence come the cold air masses that lead to FL having cold snaps far more severe than those at similar latitudes in Australia).

Eh. I could find a stretch similar to that both in this July and last July in Western Mass. Definitely felt like summer, especially during the day.

Getting a little testy…boy any talk of climate really gets the dander up down there. Don’t be mad, someone has to live in a crappy climate. If you weren’t mad at the world you would not seek to start trouble and every turn.

I can’t be that cruel, it’s just not in me (no matter how much of troll you really are)….just the fact that you have to live in a place with a climate like Christchurch that has lows in the lower 40’s (in the middle of summer) is punishment enough I guess.

Now, remember, wear your jacket when you go out each night this week, I wouldn’t want you to get sick.

By the way…Miami really is beautiful:

Don't hate Miami because she is "pretty"

I could only dream of those lows during the summer (although we do get a few of them during the summer here outside of NYC). I think on July 1st it dropped down to 46 F here.

Not everyone loves Miami's climate. I would take Christchurch's any day.

In Buxton, Derbyshire we had a low of 4.9°C / 40.8°F on 30th AUGUST, now that's a "cold summer night" for you.

What's your record low? In my area:

June 33 F
July 41 F
August 34 F

Downright frigid that time of year!
