I am looking to move to a place with less snow and fewer people when I retire. It also has to have a low crime rate and low cost of living.
I have been checking out Hays, Kansas. 18-20" of snow is still more than I want, but it is much better than the 30+" here.
Hays has a lot going for it: a regional airport, a public university, and a low unemployment rate. It also has an Arby's. Smaller communities tend to lack these amenities.

I agree with you, Hays seems like a great place. I stopped and ate at the Applebees there a few months ago. It has everything you need and doesn't make you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere like most of Kansas does. It's kind of like the big city in that area because surrounding it is just small towns and farms.
