I'll definitely take an overcast day over a sunny day. The main reason being is I am a private pilot and I love flying totally on instruments in the clouds when you can't see anything outside other that multiple cloud layers! The one caveat is the temps must be above freezing to do this safely since flying in the clouds when its cold can mean picking up ice on the plane which is extremely dangerous since it changes the shape of the wings.

I've had enough sunny days to last four life times. I'll take overcast and cool or cold. I absolutely detest the weather here in Florida- in fact, detest isn't a strong enough word.

My ideal is mostly sunny with some clouds, mixed with some gloomy or rainy days every so often. Throw in the occasional thunderstorm and a little bit of snow and I'm good!
I don't think I'd care for anywhere that was almost always sunny or almost always gloomy, sounds monotonous.
Where I am we rarely see days on end without sunshine, it seems to me that there are at least a few hours of sun almost every day. I love it.

I prefer sunny and mild because of the added sun heat.

Yes, anytime it's dark or dim during daylight is gloomy to me.
I also dislike subdued colours; exaggerated by low light levels.

I don't like mild weather in summer though, sunny or cloudy.
I would prefer 75-100 F and overcast to 50-75 F and sunny; more warmth.

Sunny for me hands down.
And better 75F than 50F.

If the choice was between warmer overcast, and cooler sunny, it would be more of a toss-up.
For instance, I'd say I'd take 75F and overcast over 50F and sunny.

This is fun, to see what everyone is saying... I never thought that talking about the weather could be so interesting!

Right now we are at 8:4 (sunny: overcast) and 6:3 (Yes:No) according to the poll, with lots of additional details thrown in the mix!

Who knows how vaild a study like that is however.
I would have thought that a better approach, would be to examine different rates of alcoholism etc within countries in relation to sunniness/gloominess, eg-
the north of France vs the south of France.

It depends on the season. A mixture of cloud and sun is fine for summer, but I definitely prefer a sunny winter day over a cloudy one. 50F cloudy days suck, 75F cloudy days are ok

Up to 80 F
I would usually prefer overcast if it means 15 F warmer temps.

I'd rather 90 F and overcast in summer than 75 F and sunny.
80 F and sunny or 95 F and overcast is almost the same for me.

85 F and sunny (finally warm enough, lol)
is much nicer than 100 F and overcast. (approaching my threshold for steamy-grossness)

Here in Colorado, sunny with temps about 50-65 are nice. Once over that, you feel the intensity of the sun. So up here, I like sunny. But I don't think cloud cover is gloomy. I love it just the same. It's nice in summer with a breeze. I love all kinds of weather, except extreme stuff like floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards. BUT I do like thunderstorms and heavy snowfall.

Sunny regardless of temperature, no contest. In our maritime climates we see plenty of cloudy days.
