Never too hot, very cold for long periods of time
Have you been hanging out at the Fairbanks citydata page? I like the extreme climate here, the landscape it shapes, and the lifestyle it promotes (keeps out the riff raff). If I had my way I'd travel periodically to warmer locations in fall, winter, and spring. Only briefly though - I get fed up with the BS pretty quick.

Looking at the nearest operating weather station with sunshine hours:
Climate statistics for Australian locations
I would increase sunshine hours in May and June (which are quite gloomy), and number of clear days in February - although this year that has probably already been exceeded due the to heat-wave since Australia Day.
Would reduce the amount of wind speed in spring as well.
Temperature-wise I would not change much, it is pretty close to perfect and superior to Sydney - not as much coolish drizzly weather, but not as hot as further north.

I would prefer that in the Mid-Atlantic region, in summer, that our predominant wind direction be out of the SE instead of the SW. Whenever our winds are out of the SE, the ocean turns a beautiful color and the sea water is much warmer, like 75F or more. However, with SW winds we have upswelling, murky water and icy cold. Seems lately we have upwelling for long periods each summer. Otherwise we have good sunshine and temps in summer.

Even out the extremes of heat in summer and cold nights in winter. Also less drought and less floods! In other words, more normality and less abnormality

Here is my current climate:

J: 19/5 0.9
F: 24/9 0.9
M: 32/16 0.7
A: 43/28 0.6
M: 54/39 0.6
J: 61/47 1.1
J: 64/52 2.1
A: 63/49 2.6
S: 54/41 2.4
O: 39/27 1.8
N: 27/15 1.2
D: 20/8 1.3

41.7/28 16.2"
-----------------------------

I'd make summers warmer and a little longer...which in turn would make them wetter:

J: 19/5 0.9
F: 24/9 0.9
M: 32/16 0.7
A: 43/28 0.6
M: 59/40 1.6
J: 68/52 2.1
J: 73/60 4.1
A: 74/58 4.6
S: 57/44 4.4
O: 39/27 1.8
N: 27/15 1.2
D: 20/8 1.3

44.5/30.1 24.2"

Generally, for Pittsburgh I'd want a higher probability of triple-digit heat in the summer, and for Athens I'd want more snow in the winter.

In Texas, I wish we could have 10 degrees lower in the summer and 10 degrees higher in the winter. And just a little more rain in the summer.

Then again, perhaps I should just move to Costa Rica.
