Reached the low to mid 80s here in North Jersey today. Nice cool start to the morning with the temperature around 50 F (slept with the window open last night), but it quickly warmed up. Thankfully tomorrow's high will only be 55 F.
Despite the record warmth last spring, it dropped into the upper 20s (May 12th?). I think there may have even been a new record low high set.
Only noticed buds on one tree outside by my house. Haven't really noticed it elsewhere. Maybe I just don't see them.
We had 27°F on May 11, so probably the same day for you. I don't see any frosts in the forecast. So it's conceivable that we had the last frost, but unlikely. I remember the early budding from the warmth last spring + late frosts caused brown spots on the edges of leaves. They seemed to have healed themselves after several weeks.
I'm sick of bare trees. I'm very happy to see little red things on the trees.
With highs in the upper 80s here a few days ago and all of the rains we have had has made even more trees explode with foliage, but we are about right on time. We are normally full my late April.
We went to Knoxville today, which is 100 miles southwest of here and about 600 ft lower in elevation (around 880 ft). Most all trees have leaves there now, some really full. They are typically a little ahead of us.
Pics below taken on April 13, 2011. I will start with the Knoxville Tennessee pics first, then the lower pics as we head back home in NE Tennessee... some of these were taken in downtown Knoxville.... (ironic that Knoxville is rated as the #1 city for allergy problems, LOL)
Nice pics! Thanks for sharing! No green trees around here, unless you are looking at all the pines! Lawns are turning green and crocuses are out!
Friday/Saturday are going to be brutal, a reminder Spring is very fickle in Wisconsin!!!
