Here are two subtropical climates that are very different from each other. Which would you pick and why?

Lima: Lima - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Peru Climate, Temperature, Average Weather History, Rainfall/ Precipitation, Sunshine
Lima record high: 33.9C
Lima record low: 8.7C

Hanoi: Hanoi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Vietnam Climate, Temperature, Average Weather History, Rainfall/ Precipitation, Sunshine
Hanoi record high: 40.4C
Hanoi record low: 2.7C

I'd choose Lima even though it has a lower annual average temperature. There is much less chance of getting rained out in Lima plus winter nights seem to be warmer overall.

EDIT: Never mind, I screwed up the poll.

How is that good? It's parched dry.

I cannot stand intense humidity, which is the case in Hanoi vs. Lima, on average. Lima would get my vote.

Both of these climate are mostly tropical/subtropical climate with surprisingly low annual sunshine!(Around 1,000,1,200 for Hanoi and 1,300 for Lima or something like that).

I give Hanoi a B-. Hanoi is pretty close to my dream climate temperatures and dream climate precipitation! However the low annual sunshine kind of ruins it 1,000,1,200 is way too little. I would like at least 2,800. I would give an A for Hanoi if it had much higher sunshine hours.

I give Lima a C-. It also has the low sunshine totals but it has virtually no precipitation(That is crazy its YEARLY average precipitation is only 0.5 half an inch) and Lima is completely bone dry. I want at least 30 inches of precipitation per year.
How can it be so dry but so cloudy with such low sunshine at the same time!?
Also the temperatures are too dull. I want it to get warmer/colder at certain times.

Anyways these two cities are some of the cloudiest major cities in the world. They are statistically even cloudier than London and Seattle.

Lima easily, it is a temperate climate at a tropical latitude due to cold ocean currents nearby.
Not perfect by any means, due to fog and mist that rolls in for most of the year, but temperatures are equable, if not a little clammy with relatively high minimums with humidity -looks a bit Easter Islandish- except the fact that rainfall is negligible in Lima.
The grass-lawns would need reticulation in Lima.
Hanoi is a typical hot and humid subtropical to tropical climate, with a brief winter and short shoulder season it's only saving grace.
Average summer day 26C to 33C , with 300mm of monthly rain.
Just one day like that is enough, but this place has virtually 5 months straight of it. No thanks.

Hanoi, it gets a decent rainfall at least.

Neither of these climates look that good, with sunshine below 1300 hours for both.

Lima sunshine usually quoted at 1450-1500 hrs. Hanoi is duller and horribly humid. Don't like either, but Lima's dryness and higher sunshine win out.

The "garua" resulting from the temperature inversion is described in many references.

Lima is a pretty bizarre climate, being cold for it's latitude and being very dry but also very cloudy.

One doesn't need to go far inland and a little upland to get a mild sunny climate - would be very nice in the latter.
