Really? Phoenix is forecasting 117 for the next several days and there is an dangerous heat advisory, warning people to stay inside their homes.

I'll second this statement. 117 degrees whether it is dry or humid is dangerously hot. 110 and above is really hot. Yes Houston is humid. Although in the past I would have said that I'd prefer a dry heat, now I'm not so sure. The danger with the dry heat is that the sweat evaporates so fast that it may be too late before you realize you are thirsty. Today it must have been in the low 90s where I am and I still had to rush back and get water before I went home. 117 is dangerously hot. I'd rather deal with Houston's muggy heat than 115-117.

Naw, it's only supposed to be 114 again today But I agree, still dangerous heat and you have to be careful. Houston had plenty of heat warnings of dangerous heat too. I'll stick by my statement that I'll take the dry heat any day of the week. But that's just me. To each their own.

Most of the people that say "I would love Houston's consistent heat in the summer" could never last a summer here. I love East Coasters that think they understand true heat and humidity.

This summer alone (which started mid March with consistent temps over 80) has had 45+ days with highs over 95 and heat indexes over 100.

Temps over 90.....?? Try 71! Our first 90 temp was March 8. We said hello to our first 80 back in FEBRUARY!!

Lets get down to some more STICKY details>>> The past two months our average dew points have been over 70F!! That feels pretty awesome at night were we have been pushing 80 for over a month.

wunderground.com

Right Now at 2:17am:
Temp-80F
Dew Point-74F
Feels Like-84F

Rest of the week:
Mon-96/78
Tues-95/77 (Low high temps because rain is forecast)
Wed-98/76
Thur-97/77
Fri- 99/79
Sat-99/78
Sun-98/78

http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/channel?...ast&id=6650179

I can assure you that two of those days will break 100 and EVERY day the heat indexes will be 104+! Our heat wave will still be around LOOOONG after (and obviously way before) this mini wave the Midwest and East Coast is experiencing.

I invite all of you to come down and visit to see what you've been missing all of you're life--those "true summers." Heck, why don't y'all come down November 1st and we can all hopefully say goodbye to 80F for good!!

No thanks! I would hate that much heat, day after day! You are right, our heat/humidity won't last and we'll be back to normal temps!

Houston sounds like a dream compared to here... even with the winter cold snaps

Not to the people who actually live in there. Houston is not as bad as Dallas or the other areas in Texas. I don't know people always associate the Texas heat with Houston, Dallas is way worse

Yes Dallas is hotter than Houston in summer.. that's for sure but I'd take Houston over Dallas any day due to the milder winters.. can grow more species of palms in Houston than in Dallas

Houston summers rock (though I would prefer about 80*F)! Better then cold. I live about 30 miles to the west of Houston, where it is even hotter!

Houston's warm weather lasts longer then Dallas and returns earlier and spring.

I don't like the cold snaps that we get either, temps under 60*F are horrible!

I used to live in Mcallen, TX and my mother lives in Houston and we were opposites. I loved the cold and my mother loved the warmth. But we both hated summers with the extreme heat and humidity. She doesn't mind 80s or 90s in winter, but the 90s in summer with humidity, she hates. She's actually looking for it to cool, but if it was up to her, she'd want it warm year round. Just because she doesn't like the cold, doesn't mean she likes the heat and humidity.
