14°C to me would mean light weight long sleeved shirt and a light jacket if I were walking, or just the shirt if I were riding my bicycle. That's actually ideal bike riding weather to me.
I was reminded of this thread yesterday when it was 90°F and the sun was so bright I could barely open my eyes. The sad thing is, it was the most comfortable day we'd had all week! Luckily I won't be here much longer!
I thought you like cold?
Or you like dressing warm?
I was wearing a singlet (tank top) shorts and thongs (sandals) last Saturday to catch some sun.
It was 16 C/61 F for the high with clear skies.
Most people were in long sleeves.
But the wind was light and I feel a lot more infrared-radiation here than back home.
The sun made it feel more like 26 C/78 F to my bare skin.
Mid-winter, yet we're still reaching UV of 3 on a clear day.
Say what you will - 16C - in sunny and awful dry SW conditions makes us more even, if in a showery and cloudy airstream, more fine :-)
Nothing whatever wrong with 16C, sunny and "awful" dry - in your so-called "winter".
LOL, I just check Wellington's forecast and you don't really have a winter either so.....
-Christchurch's weather looks like real winter, though. So it is true that the northern island of New Zealand is more subtropical-like while the southern part is humid continental, or cool temperate whatever you call it...
The heat index is already 105 here (that was at 10:30). Of course this happens every year, so to me it's just what summer is. Which is why I hate summer.
When it gets very hot, I use one of those bottles with a spray nozzle on top, originally meant for flowers. I fill in cold water and spray it at myself, especially in the face. That works well, artificial sweat so to speak that unlike real sweat is not preheated by the body, so it cools better.
Heat Wave Kills 22, Christian News.
Anyone who thinks that great weather= sunshine and heat should be subjected to several doses of some brutal heat waves. And take away all their A/Cs and fans so they can suffer in agony for what they wish .
LOL, I love cooler climates too. It is funny to me, I live in Atlanta, and very much dislike the summers here. From May thru October it is just too hot. Everyone I know has this love affair with the beach, heat and laying out in the sun, but not me, I am pale as a ghost and love a cold rainy climate, glad we are not all alike. Paradise to me is on a lake in a kayak with clouds rolling in and about 60-70 farenheit ;o) I guess I need to move to the Pacific Northwest of the USA.
