CC will come back and explain (maybe) weather preferences, I've been on here 4 yrs. so I understand some "old" timers reasoning.

Me, on the other hand, I get miserable in hot weather due to not sweating enough. I still do all my yard work, walk, ride my bike but do not do those things in very warm conditions. I get scarey looking when I'm hot, face gets beet red to purple, not a pretty sight!

Texas has cold weather but not for months at a time, many times it is a fluke (like the week before the Super Bowl)! Looking at the daily averages (not records) 40's for overnight lows are a walk in the park. Dec./Jan. highs in the high 60's great temps, hardly qualifying as winter!

lol, I understand that some people are sensitive to cold. But calling Laredo's winters "very cold" is downright ridiculous. Especially considering Laredo has had 100 degree days in February

And I rate Laredo's climate an F.

Just out of curiousity, have you ever experienced real winters? Any relatives in the northern states you might have visited for xmas (or at least thanksgiving)?

I was wondering the same thing, many people living in southern states have never been north! Calling temps under 70's winter is a major, major stretch!

Im curious at what people think are "real winters". It seems to be something different for everyone

Do you consider this weather, for example, "real winter"?:

Average high and lows for the 4 coldest months (in Buenos Aires):

June : 60.1 / 45.7
July: 57 / 45.3
August: 63.1/ 48.
Sept: 66 / 50.

I call this perfect winter. The lows are cold enough to experience "real" winter and the highs are just lovely.
Do you guys think this weather is cold enough?

I wouldn't call this a "real" winter. I think the lows have to be below freezing.

nice weather, looks like a typical Alaskan summer to me
weather forecast for Kotzebue( i don't live here), AK
Tues: 50°F | 37°F
Wed41°F | 38°F
Thur46°F | 42°F
Fri47°F | 41°F
don't mean to spoil your winter though.

Winter means max highs have to be below the freezing point. For spring, highs and lows should be above freezing. And finally, the fall/autumn season ideally means that highs are above freezing but lows must be below.

I'd call those temperatures early Spring. Winters here in TN are usually 30s to 50s for high, but sometimes we'll have highs in the 20s, and occasionally colder.

We got those temperatures lately here. The last two days, our highs were in the low-to-mid 60s, and lows in mid-to-high 40s, and it's supposedly a summer month. Thankfully it's going to get warmer this week. Hell in fact, our average September high and low match yours almost exactly (high 69 low 47) >_< I understand now why you like winter so much. I would too if we get those kinds of temperatures here during the winter...

Laredo would be about the worst possible place for me to live in the U.S. weather wise. I have very low tolerance for much anything above 80F. So I would melt there or just stay inside with A/C on. I am used to snow in the winter so not seeing any wouldnt be good either.

To each his/her own though.
