This April was exceptional in UK. The long term averages put July or August as the warmest months depending on the place. IIRC in 2007 April was warmer than May too. But these events aren't common. I think they are mostly due to the little temperature difference between those months (from Wikipedia April's average high is 58 and May's is 64).
But April and May warmer than July and August ? Don't think it ever happened.
Currently in buxton Derbyshire the mean temp for June is running just 1°C warmer than April's final mean temperature. May was 0.2°C colder than April.

What he said about April and May being warmer than July/August is only very partially true. April this year was one of the most anomalously warm months ever, and ended up warmer than the average for June 1675 during the mini Ice Age. That is the only time in recorded history that an April has ever been warmer than a June, and no April has ever been warmer than any July or August.
The top 11 Mays ever recorded have been warmer than a July and the top 25 have been warmer than an August, but most of the time that's comparing freakishly warm Mays from centuries ago with freakishly cold summer months from the 1600s-1700s which would (hopefully) not be possible today. There has never been an April-May combination warmer than a July-August, and no April or May has come anywhere near being warmer than a July/August in the same year.
In maritime NZ the seasonal lag doesn't compare with that of the CA coasts, but in the northern half of the country February is warmer than January (tied for the country as a whole). The town of Kaitaia in the far north has the greatest lag, with February 0.5C warmer than January. A predominance of southwesterly flows in spring contributes to April being 0.6C warmer than November, autumn being over 2.1C warmer than spring, and September being only 0.6C warmer than June. The differences are quite substantial considering that the annual monthly range is only 8.2C.

Wow, that was quite a lag. Your climate seems pretty similar with St. John's, Newfoundland it seems. Autumn in St. John's is quite a bit warmer than Spring, though the hottest month is still July. The catch is, their winter lasts forever (March colder than December, April colder than November, and so on). California (and the west coast in general) is a bit different though, since they have summer lag, but they don't seem to have much of a lag in the winter (some coastal cities have their coldest month in December, but their hottest in August for example).

I just saw the 10 day weather(for Mid to late June) forecast for London and the next 10 days show solid overcast, temperatures staying in the 60s for highs and 50s for lows, and maybe not one day even reaching 70. Some days might barely reach the 60s too.
Also it is even worse in Liverpool and Buxton Derbyshire. The 10 day weather forecast for Buxton Derbyshire show 10 days of solid overcast with highs maybe not ever reaching 60 mostly highs in the 50 and lows in the 40s. Some days show the highs might be as cold as the low to mid 50s and lows as cold as the low 40s.
It seems like most of April this year was warmer, sunnier, and drier than this June, especially for the 10 day forecast that weather.com shows for Mid to Late June. Is this not true?
Washington coast has this too. Warmest months around the sound and in Eastern Washington are July and August, but head out to the coast and the warmest months there are August and September.
I wonder where it transitions from September to August for sunniest and warmest month. At least from Victoria, BC northwards, it's August that is the warmest month of the year and not September.
Victoria isn't actually on the open Pacific ocean though. I did check climate data from Pachena Point, which shows a very negligible difference between August and September (August is less than half a degree warmer).
