I like our winters. Though I actually think that they're a bit on the cool side. Sydney's climate would've been a lot better if it had Brisbane's winters (NOT their summers though - yuck).

Best winters are in the Snowy Mountains.You'll never get the crystal clear skies in warm winter climates.

That's not entirely true, if you go to the desert outside of Tucson or Yuma, AZ or Brawley, CA, that is a very clear sky alot of times

Yeah possibly, but I haven't been to either place, so can't comment.

I've have seen Palm Springs though, and can't remember crystal clear skies -certainly not as clear as Tahoe or here at it's best.

Palm Springs sits in a deep inversion prone valley, which also gets spill over smog from Greater LA/IE in addition to the smog created in the Coachella Valley.

Brawley sits on a flat desert plain, halfway between Palm Springs and Mexicali, Baja
