Mike Tyson should have won an award for that fight. I totally agree.

The whole Christmas association with snow and boreal conifers is odd considering that Christianity is from an area with Mediterranean climate and vegetation.

I love all types of vegetation, but my favorites are subtropical desert, Mediterranean, and dry tropical.

I'm not sure what country you are specifically referring to. Snow and conifers are found pretty much everywhere in Europe.

Sweetgums (Liquidambar?) are my favourite for fall colour;
like a bowl of Fruit Loops since every leaf can have its own colour.

They are only marginally hardy in the mildest parts of southern Ontario, so I seldom saw any.
Common in the eastern USA though.

Sweetgums I've seen planted in every "temperate" city and town I've been to in Australia, oddly enough.

I think the German Christians were the first to make up such festivities.

Else a starry night, dropping down to 35-45 F (2-7 C) is what would be fitting Christmas weather.

Yep, I've seen those pictures before. I love seeing palms covered in snow.

True, I know palms can grow in cooler oceanic climates where seeing snow that sticks a few times a winter is common, but I was generally referring to places where either 20-25 inches of snow in a season is considered a record low snowfall or temps are so cold that any snow that falls will probably stay there the whole season.
