I was asked why I look so sad in the above photo. Hmmmm. I have no snowthrower and live in Minnesota! I have a very long driveway and young kids who aren't able to really help shovel. Yep...I'm sad and exhausted in that photo! The snow was up to my waist without drifts!!! These photos you are seeing are not drifts...it's the real deal. It's the most snow I have ever seen dump in one time. I believe we got 18 inches. Quite the storm! It was the ONE time schools closed up here and businesses sent people home.

They closed school in Mn. for just that bit of snow? It's probably like over here. If your door isn't snowed shut, you have to get out and go to work and send your children to school. Seriously though, Hoosier, and others who live in the northern part of the country~we were snowed in so bad a few years ago that our neighbor climbed out his window and shoveled his own door open. Then he came over here and shoveled our front door open so we could get out. DH and him went through the neighborhood shoveling so people could get out of their homes. Oh man, I hate living like this and just think~IT'S COMING. If you live in the southern part of the country, that's probably pretty unbelievable.

All these pics are making me excited for winter! Here is my mom and dad's backyard last winter. They live just north of Greenville, Michigan.
Here's another pic from Michigan...

Wow! I haven't seen it that bad here, however with being in the suburbs of the Cities we do tend to get less snow than rural areas of the state. It does get cold here. Kids are not allowed to go outside if the temp is at 10 degrees Farenheit or below. Even if we're below zero kids still go to school. I may have posted this before elsewhere but the coldest I've seen it here was -35. That was cold!! I don't mind -20 but anything beyond that is just too cold for me! We got down to 38 the other night! wooohoooo. Love the cold! I wore shorts today and it was 58 degrees. I had to quickly rethink that one. But it warmed up to a nice 65!
I could not imagine living anywhere south of where I am now. I've lived in Florida and Texas and you couldn't get me back there! I just can't stand the heat and humidity. We get enough of it in the summer that when September rolls around I'm ready for colder weather, sweaters, fires in the fireplace and all that goes along with it.

Hoosier, I'll take the warm and humid over the cold and snowy.

March 30, 2007.
Yeah, that's a standard chain link fence.
Even with the 60+ winds, my cooler stacked up the snow. Course, it was kind of protected from the wind.

I work with several people here in Houston, TX who have never experienced snow. No snow here in Houston and I've been here about 5 years. I miss the snow but not the ice.

Give us their addresses. We'd be happy to send them some in a couple of months.
