We live around 8,800'. Timberline is about 2,000'-3,000' above us. It would be pretty hard to live permanently above tree-line here, what with the most unstable snowpack in North America and all!

I live at about 4000 ft. Can travel about 15 miles and be at 13000 ft. Love it. Can see the prestine white and admire it. But don't have to shovel the partly cloudy off the deck. hahaha
|

I have just found this website and have gone through the winter pictures posted in this forum. There are some fanastic photographs here. I am a poet who posts many poems on a site. Moderator cut: site removed From time to time, I write poems using photographs as inspiration and prompts. I may request permission from the owners to use some of these photos for that purpose.
