I live in Grand Rapids, MI. Today it was 90°F with about 40% humidity. I was sweating while sitting still in the shade.
This comes from exploreit.com: "Imagine each of those as a drop of sweat that will evaporate taking a bit of your body heat away. So sweat helps cool you down two ways. First, it makes your skin feel cooler when it's wet. Second, when it evaporates it removes some heat."
When it's a lower temp and humid your sweat doesn't evaporate so sweating is only maybe 60% effective and you feel much hotter. I'll take the dry heat!
The souths saving grace for all the humidity in the summer is the late afternoon thunderstorms and the very high rainfall averages in the south, especially a southern thunderstorm after a nice sunny day which is when I am happpiest with all the sultry southern weather . I am the exact opposite of the some s.a.d. sufferers, if I go day after with no dark grey clouds and rain, day after day after day of sun, I get depressed. I dont know much about seasonal affective disorder or its even true, but I know lack of rain and way too many sunny days day after day changes my mood drastically for the worse
