Nice temperature range, nothing too cold but the summer has some heat. Decent amount of rain though a bit drier than I'd like, especially the summers.
What do others pick?
For this thread, I'd like to define Europe as anything west of the Urals and north of the Mediterranean / Black Sea or Caucasus Mountains. So, European Russia counts.
I wouldn't even consider Portugal's climate European. A true European climate is something similar to Munich or London. My favorite European climate is St. Petersburg.

Care to explain why? I understand you don't like warm climates but Portugal and Spain are as European as the UK, and probably more European than Russia for that matter (geographically, politically, and so on).
It's like if I said Seoul is not Asian because it gets cold in winter, and that true Asian climates are limited to Bangkok or Singapore
As much as the city is ugly and polluted, I find Zaporizhia, Ukraine's climate very nice. It has well-defined and balanced seasons, though not too extreme. The only problem is its rather low precipitation totals (abit like London's). At least the rainfall pattern is continental and allows vegetation to thrive during summer.

Too dry for me. One of my favourite climates anywhere is Ljubljana: proper seasons but nothing too extreme, plenty of snow, plenty of thunderstorms, plenty of winter fog and summer sun. Plus it's a beautiful place. Ljubljana - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zagreb, a couple of hours down the road is similar only a little warmer and drier. Both would suit me fine.
Yes that's its main flaw.
Sure Ljubljana and Zagreb have very nice climates. The summer lows are somewhat cool though. Milan, Italy isn't bad too, but it's too mild in winter.
