It's that time again! More fun with microclimates on the American west coast.

In one corner, Berkley, California, the east-bay city with a climate very similar to San Francisco, with mild rainy winters and cool, dry summers.

Average High and Low in the warmest month: 13-22C
Average High and Low in the coldest month: 6-13C
Annual Rainfall: 645.2mm

In the other corner ( and not all that far inland ), is Pleasanton, a dry Mediterranean climate bordering on semi-arid, with cooler winter lows and much hotter summers, more typical of Mediterranean seasons elsewhere:

Average High and Low in the warmest month: 15-32C
Average High and Low in the coldest month: 3C-14C
Annual Rainfall: 376.4mm

Your choice?

Pleasanton.

Berkley is nice but can be quite chilly at times. I spent several weeks in late fall in Oakland/Berkley, and while a nice climate, it might just be a bit "too cool" much of the year. Also, dew points are higher as you move eastward, so the "cool" often feels cooler in Berkley than in Pleasanton.

Pleasanton's winter lows are not much cooler than Berkeley's, so it's not really a hard choice for a person who prefers hot weather.

It is for me, because I'm not much of an arid climate fan. I think I'll go with Berkeley.

Well, Pleasanton has hot summers but cooler winters.. Berkeley is wet and cooler throughout the year..

In Pleasanton I'd be miserable for 4 months of the year and uncomfortable for 2 more.. where as in Berkeley, the lack of any real cold would annoy me, but I'd be more comfortable year round.. so Berkeley.
