In the other corner ( and not all that far inland ), is Pleasanton, a dry Mediterranean climate bordering on semi-arid, with cooler winter lows and much hotter summers, more typical of Mediterranean seasons elsewhere:
Berkley is nice but can be quite chilly at times. I spent several weeks in late fall in Oakland/Berkley, and while a nice climate, it might just be a bit "too cool" much of the year. Also, dew points are higher as you move eastward, so the "cool" often feels cooler in Berkley than in Pleasanton.
Well, Pleasanton has hot summers but cooler winters.. Berkeley is wet and cooler throughout the year..
In Pleasanton I'd be miserable for 4 months of the year and uncomfortable for 2 more.. where as in Berkeley, the lack of any real cold would annoy me, but I'd be more comfortable year round.. so Berkeley.
Looks more comfortable and I like the higher precipitation.
