I know this has been an angry long warm fall for most winter/cold weather fans...but the pattern might finally be changing to a more cold weather pattern in the days/weeks ahead. A building cold high will drop out of Canada in the coming days and highs will only get into 50’s across most of the north tier, while some locations in the Intermountain West stay in the 40’s F ! Cities like Boise, Minneapolis, Chicago, Boston…etc will see highs in the 50’s …while Denver might see some snow and highs in the 30”s. Here is WED forecast:

...and by next week, the first fully week of November..daily highs in the 40's will be the rule in some areas:

This pattern looks to stay around for a good two weeks....so cold weather fans should esp in the northern tier should see highs in the 50's and lows in the 40's and 30's. Your time has finally come it seems...

We've had highs in the 50s since Friday or so, so that's not new. I see a forecast for highs below 50 in a few days. Upstate NY (Finger Lakes) has a high of 39 predicted later this week.

Though the month is running above average partly due to a three day spell in the 80s, the last two weeks have generally been in the 50s and 60s. It's been very comfortable lately.

The forecast here this weekend looks very interesting. First sub-50 F highs are possible and we might even get some snow!

From the NWS:

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 49.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Saturday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 45. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Saturday Night: A chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 28. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Denver's weather is too changeable for me. I would get very annoyed with the mild and warm days during the fall and winter.

I live here and I'm very annoyed! The past two days were sunny and 80. I took a walk this morning and it was sunny/warm, perfect Fall weather. The trees are almost at peak color. Then WHAM! Slapped in the face with Winter tonight!. Then 60s this weekend, maybe 70 on Halloween.

Maybe I'm annoyed the reverse of you. I love the warm days in Fall/Winter, just hate snow and cold days. You HAVE to watch the weather forecast here for the next 6 months because the weather is insane!

If you want to see a lot of wet, slushy snow, then yes, it's the place to be. But it'll mostly be gone in 48 hours.

I'd take any snow in October, slushy or not.

I would too. Maybe I should rephrase what I said - Denver is the place to be for early and late season snow.
