I had to create a thread about Nice as it is my hometown and also, more interestingly, one of Europe's mildest and sunniest cities :

Nice - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Coldest month : 5.3°C - 12.9°C / 41.5°F - 55.2°F (nights are, no matter the season, at least as warm as Seville's or Athens')

Warmest month : 20°C - 27.2°C / 68°F - 81°F

Sunshine : 2668 hours, from 140 in December to 335 in July

Average number of frosts per year : <1

I give it a B-/C+, can't go much higher because of November to March, but the rest of the year is very enjoyable, mild and abundantly sunny - especially in summer. And when it's sunny here, it's a purely cloudless and deeply blue sky for the whole days.

Solid B. Summers are slightly cooler than I would like, but the winter is very mild, along with the sunshine total for the year which is good. And it appears more stable in winter than eastern sub-tropical climates in the US outside of Florida. Less than 1 frost per year is, for a warm lover, much better than said US eastern sub-tropical climates. Even Orlando, FL averages more than that. Bet you can grow a large variety of sub-tropical veg there with out fear of an arctic blast killing them all.

Nice has a rather nice climate, typical of Mediterranean climates; high sunshine hours, modest rainfall, and few frosts and days when snow falls. For me, at least 6 months (May through October), Nice has near perfect weather – warm, sunny, and mostly high pressure dominating. Add in the social and history angle, and Nice comes out well compared to many cities.

There are a few interesting things to note climatically about Nice: Despite the Mediterranean Basin representing the largest development of Cs climate on earth (ironically that has given the Cs climate it’s name and glamours reputation)….the Cs region around the northern Mediterranean (including Nice) is actually less true to type and more transitional in climate compared to many other Cs sectors in the southern/eastern Mediterranean (southern Spain, Southern Italy, southern Greece), southern California, and SW Australia (Perth…etc). This not surprising, since the far northern Cs climates like Nice lie polward of 40 latitude – thus they extend beyond subtropical latitude and the usual weather /climate controls, and into middle latitudes where other controls are at work.

The most recognizable difference are 1) Nice rather high numbers for rainfall at the time of high sun (summer) compared to other Cs cities (Los Angeles, Perth, Haifa, Cape Town…etc)….2) in winter, there are more bouts of disturbed weather, fewer bouts of subtropical high pressure …and 3) winter monthly mean temps are a good deal lower than is typical for many Cs climates. So while most Cs stations like Los Angeles, Athens, Perth, Haifa, Cape Town,..etc have coldest monthly mean temps in the 51 F – 57 (11 - 14 C) range, Nice is at least 6- 12 F colder (coldest month 45 F/7 C). As far as the more disturbed weather in winter in Nice – this is due in part to latitude (Nice is located in the transition zone of subtropical and middle latitudes), and in part to the warmth of the Mediterranean Sea – which favors cool season cyclogenesis, and hence more winter rainfall than most lower latitude Cs stations.

Still there are at least 6 months were average temps would be fine for me…so B-.

Looks fairly comfortable. Summers warmer than ideal, but it could be much worse. Winters are acceptably cool. Sunshine hours are on the high side.

Very comfortable. And it's further north than I am! Our January nights are 28°F colder than Nice.

C for Correct. Definitely warmer than I prefer year round, but I could be reasonably comfortable outdoors for at least nine months out of the year, and the other three months are warm but bearable. A little too sunny for me, and I would certainly like to see colder winter temperatures and obviously summer is too warm. I could get past the warm season if there was more cold weather for variation. It really looks like a beautiful city regardless, and I imagine I would probably enjoy living there.

B+. Very nice, although a bit more rain in summer would be nice. Looks similar to here except for 3-4 months of summer.
