Yup they do I read somewhere Braemar or Altnaharra (Highlands) would have reached -30C if it weren't for cloud cover coming in at some point during the night.
The lowest maximum temperature in the UK is -16c by the way, -11 for England
I'm wondering if the Braemar/Altnaharra weather site is located at optimum location to get the coldest temperatures, seeming as that's the only thing Altnaharra in particular is known for?
I know the Braemar site was moved in 2005 so not sure if that's changed anything.. or if they moved it for 'better' results. They're both located in pretty deep frost hollows though.
