3200 average at the airport is a pretty good total!! (And yes, I know someone will cite older city records with a lower value).

I would choose Perth marginally over Brisbane. Both have very good climates in my opinion. As high sunshine has the greatest weight in my preference list, Perth wins out.

I would enjoy the mild to balmy evenings that Brisbane offers and the winter sunshine would be very pleasant. But looking at the stats, most of Perth's undesirable weather is clustered into a few short months and their settled summer weather looks amazing.

PS I have been pondering over this question for some time as it is likely we'll eventually move to either (Sydney is not long term for us)!

Hard choice even for me.
I'm not picking either at the moment.

I would give a slight edge to Geraldton vs. Brisbane
but north of Geraldton easily beats Brisbane

I've been in Western Australia since Feb 2011.
Because I get used to the heat of the sun,
I almost always feel cool or cold within +2/-2 hrs from sunset, in any season.

I loved how it almost never rained up to mid-May.
It's been raining more often than I'd like, usually, ever since June.
Sometimes I enjoy how low the humidity is in SW Oz,
but sometimes I miss the smells and warm evenings higher humidity brings.

In SW Oz
Any day with strong sunshine and light winds, (even winter )
or strong sun, 25+ C/77+ F temps and any kind of wind feels superb, midday.
I might end up resenting Brisbane, if its humidity usually means cloud forms just in time to block high-angle sunshine.
Does it???

A much tougher choice than Sydney vs Melbourne. Perth is probably a bit more comfortable. Brisbane likely has more interesting summer weather with thunderstorms and the heat isn't too extreme, so I'll go with Brisbane.

I think Auckland is the most isolated city in the world with a population larger then 1 million. Could be wrong though.
