When I'm in Egypt next week, the Sun rises at around 05:30, and sets at around 17:25.
The early sunset is ridiculous. I'll have to get up at Sunrise to make the most of the skewed daylight hours.
Hmm. common in java. 5:30 sunrise/set in average. Just fine for me. even 5am/5pm would be nice. I like the early sunrises.

Do people get up earlier there? 5 am sounds rather inconvenient. Maybe if you have the same early sunrise / sunset year-round people just wake up around sunrise. Anyway for me:
6:49 am sunrise, 6:28 pm sunset
Feel like we should have our clocks half-hour later.
Yes. Majority of java wake up at 4-5am, since there mainly Muslims so they do the dawn prayer first, before work. Early risers there.
Also in Java schools can start at 6:30, even I've heard of 6:15am!!! So 6am sky must be lit enough, 10 degrees of sun altitude. Most people already on the way home before 5pm, so sunset before 6pm isn't a big deal compared to post-6am sunrises.
