Biggest I saw were a 14th of July in Paris. They showed up behind the Eiffel tower during the Bastille day fireworks and were visible till past midnight.
I've seen them quite often in the summer as well. Near the solstice the sun only drops to 7° below the horizon so sky stays lit up all night. There can be massive cloudscapes illuminated from below by twilight, quite beautiful. Tough to even imagine it now with day length approaching 6 hours, heh.

hmm website claims they're at 50-70°. I guess occasionally they sneak down below. I was at 47-49°N last summer, I wonder if I might have seen one without recognizing it?
