Little Diomede Island is in USA (AK - 4km to Russia) and sunset can reach as late as 3:21am.

Question for British posters : Do the long days (especially the late sunsets) and 50º solar noon sun angle feel weird with the cold weather? I mean, 15 hour days, 20:30 sunsets, coupled with frost in northern England!

I prefer the opposite if I lived in mid/high latitude. Dark on midwinter evenings and bright the bright summer dawns would be nice!

It does feel a bit weird to get combinations like 2C and completely sunny at 8 pm (with the weather we've been having this week most of the mornings and evenings have been sunny with overcast/showery weather in the afternoons) because seeing the bright sunshine outside in its spring/summer position makes you think it "looks warm", but to be honest if you're in the sunshine it doesn't feel as cold at this time of year as the same temperatures do in midwinter.

Unless they take a close interest in weather not many people here would believe that December could possibly have been warmer than this April has been just because December = "supposed to be cold" and because it's so grey and dark and the sun so weak, i.e. "looks cold".

It was more weird seeing snow fall with fully-leafed trees. IIRC we had a snow shower in May 2010 as well, and May 1997 and May 1995, so it's unusual but not unprecedented. Funnily enough, both 1995 and 1997 had nice summers - with 1995 being 31C on my birthday in August (I was 8).
