We do have some trees but they aren't high and the land is flat? Kinda bizarre coming from a rural area that is hilly, I expected to see sunset right till the end in this location.
Maybe there are some hills with a small gradient that aren't noticeable?
In both Palm Springs, CA and Las Vegas, NV, the "apparent" sunset is about 20-30 mins before the actual time, because of Mt San Jacinto being west of Palm Springs, and Mt Charleston being west of Las Vegas

Yeah, i've seen that back home but it depends on the time of year and elevation. There's no hills where I am though so I don't know why it sets so early.
