Default Windiest place in your state or country

Well, where in your area is the windiest place?

In Victoria, Australia, it has to be Wilson's Promontory. A weird climate, it has seen temps of 100F at 2am, many occasions when the high temp occurs overnight, and very strong wind gusts.

An example of wind here:

Hogan Island, in the Bass Strait

For New England, it's Mt Washington.

Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS) – Weather Normals, Means, and Extremes

Average wind speed at the bottom. About 2/3 of winter days record hurricane force winds. I posted a rate my climate for it:

Rate the Climate: Mt. Washington, New Hampshire

This is absolutely not a statistical fact, but from common knowledge, I'd say it's Brittany in France.

In Texas one of the windiest places is right here at my house on the south High Plains. In fact, I'm in the foot print for a proposed 130-wind turbine farm. Our tumbleweeds never touch the ground.

My Yard

The wind picks up my swing set, which weighs hundreds of pounds, and sends it tumbling about the yard regularly. Every year, at Christmas time we watch as new neighbors decorations blow down the street. If it isn't cement don't put it out there.

I live at 4600 ft

Not sure for Canada.. but I would hazard a guess it's probably somewhere like Cape St. James on the Southern Tip of the Queen Charlotte Islands. Parts of Newfoundland and Labrador must be up there as well.

Yes, its odd. Dallas, despite being Far inland always looks windier than coastal Houston on windmapper.com

It apparently was always windy on the TV series too.

I think the plains states have similar wind levels to the UK, but most of the US is less windy than UK.

I live in Oregon and in our state some wind magnets include Cape Blanco on the south coast, the Columbia Gorge between Troutdale and The Dalles, Mt. Hebo in Tillamook County and the high desert country east of Lakeview.
In all four places 40 mile (~65 Kilometer) winds occur on a regular or semi regular basis and it's a rare year indeed that Cape Blanco doesn't see at least one 100+ mile (160+) gust.

According to the Western Regional Climate Center, Livingston MT is one of the most consistantly windy cities in the Northwest. They could do worse than invest in wind generated power there. Here's the skinny on wind spped for selected stations in my part of the world....

For Canada the windiest place is the Gaspe Peninsula where there's a wind farm.

The windiest city is St. John's
