Victim's Brother Also Struck, Officials Say

Authorities said a Portland man was struck and killed by lightning while camping at Baxter State Park.

The victim, identified as Evans Huber, 24, of Peak's Island, was camping at Katahdin Stream Campground with his younger brother and mother during a strong thunderstorm when lightning struck a tree near the campsite on Saturday night.

Park officials said the lightning deflected from the tree and struck Evans and his brother, Emmett Huber, 18. Baxter State Park staff responded to the scene and attempted to revive the elder Huber but were unsuccessful.
