For my, standards of an ice day is 12am to 12am. I don't agree with 9am to 9am because it could be 13c at 1am that day and drop to freezing at 9am and then be called an ice day.. and how can it be called a day when it runs onto the next day?
Yes he lives higher up and slightly outta town.

Its 0c here in my part of town (only 1 mile from Trafalgar's Square)

The reason why they don't use 0000-0000 is that you could have one really cold night counting in the records as happening in two different days, i.e. really cold at 2359 one day and 0001 the next. It'll be a bit silly if it doesn't count as an ice day because of what happens tomorrow breakfast time when it was about -1.5C all through daylight hours today, but you have to draw the line somewhere.

Seems like the weather banner has been saying cloudy all day. But everytime I look outside it is snowing. It may be spring but this is North Snowkota and Spring seems to have not crossed the Border here. I don't care what the calender says, it is still winter here. Date March 24, 2013 time 11:45 PM Temp 19F / -7C and it is snowing no matter what that silly banner says.

9c is quite balmy and not that cold. It will not exceed 4c here all week.

The water temperatures are actually dropping here, about 7c. If this continues into April it means we may have below average summer water temps which for me would mean around 11 or 12c.
