Actually, the storm isn't even going anywhere close to Scotland, and pretty much disappeared into the ether didn't it?

We have some snow, but not much.

Here's a current webcam shot (at about 8500' elevation). Pretty puny snow banks for the middle of December

Still not a singly flake this winter so far. Actually we didn't have any measurable snow in 2011 thus far. This year could be snow-free, which would be unprecedented. Last year we had 58 cm, which is a really good tally considering the normals. I guess we're paying for it.

Isn't it the thing that is affecting southern England and France right now?
Gusts up to 141 km/h are being recorded on the French Atlantic coast. Wind up to 180 km/h is expected in the Vosges mountains, maybe abit short of 100 km/h here in Paris.

All I'm hearing about is just lots of rain down south. Not heard much about winds. 60mph isn't much here. Wait until they get 0.01" of snow down in southern England, it will come to a standstill, people won't be going to work, it'll be all over the news of course

Currently 4C and raining here, winds a mere 10mph. I had a good lol at the Evening Standard (London's local newspaper) this evening warning of "snowstorms for the southeast of England with up to a centimetre predicted" but I can't see anything happening here as the ground is wet and it's not predicted to freeze much if at all.

0 snow in the forecast. It's 50°F now (10°C) and drizzly. Tomorrow supposed to be sunny, dry, windy and slightly cooler. The rest of our forecast is hovering around 40°F for a high.

Just to satisfy the curiosity of someone who has never been anywhere near the U.K......

Can any of you living there tell me what constitutes a real snowfall in London, Edinburgh, Dublin (yeah, it ain't U.K. but it's not that far off) or in Buxton?? Something that comes along once in a lifetime, say?

In my part of the world, 1916 and 1937 both saw snowfalls pass 1 foot (30cm) in Corvallis and close to two feet in Salem (Oregon's capital) and points north. There are stories about a 3+foot (nearly a meter) snow dump in 18 or so hours in Seattle during a particularly severe blizzard in January 1880 but I am skeptical. We, in Corvallis saw outlier snowfalls in 1971, 1989, 1993, 1995 and nothing of note since. We're due.....

Buxton? That would be very different from what they'd call a lot in London, once in a lifetime might be a few feet of snow here perhaps, maybe 1ft in London.
