UK high pressure record is 1053.6mb, it's currently 1044.9mb here... it'd be pretty cool if we broke it

Looks like we'll have a few days of winter this week with snow showers possible and highs struggling to reach freezing.

I saw the news with the Giants celebration, looked like decent weather! Last year single digit temps here in Wisc. welcoming the Packers home! People paid $5.00 to sit outside at Lambeau in below zero wind chills (not me)!

I was watching the coverage of the Giants parade this afternoon and the skies were crystal clear in the city. Meanwhile here in Northern New Jersey it was overcast.

Hmm, weather forecast just mentioned the possibility of 8 inches of snow on Friday for eastern areas.. I wouldn't be surprised to be honest.

Default Alaska Ice 2012

So many threads Im not sure where to put this. LOL. Maybe next year we can have 3 different threads.

U.S Winter 2012-13
World Winter Weather 2012-13
Winter Photos 2012-13

Anyway - Apparently there's less Ice in Alaska this winter thanks to the snowpack.

3 days in a row below freezing predicted: Saturday thru Monday. High of 22°F, Low of 7°F on Sunday.

I don't think other winters I would considered that even noteworthy, but I think this is the coldest it's been since the second to last week of January. Tuesday it's supposed to snap back into high in the mid 40s, Tuesday's low is predicted to be 29°F, which further away from the normal than 7°F is.

The prospect of a snowless February is getting higher...

Same here, -1.6/-7.6°C, almost the same as the month's averages so far (-1.8/-7.8°C).
So far it's been a very stable month opening, no temp below -10°C or above 0°C, far from the excesses of some snowy areas.

MJO now in Phase 7 heading to 8 & 1. A favorable position for Winter in the U.S East. The MJO applies to all nations, Im just not familiar with other areas.

Here's a helpful link. Climate Prediction Center - MJO Temperature Composites and Significance

Here's a PDF file that explains the MJO.
