Yeas, quite unusual, but still not unheard of. It has happened many times in December in the past years. I remember December 2001, If I'm not mistaken, something similar happened, identical. December 2007 not exactly, but the low for more than one day was near 10 C (50 F). Decemeber 2004 I remember something similar to this year and 2001.
Then I remember once in February 1993 (wow, I was a teenager, hehe), the high was 33 C and after a "Sudestada" (Southeasterly wind), the following day the afternoon temp was around 15 C - 13 C and rainy. Towards the end of February 2005 there were a couple of days with highs in the 18 - 20 C and cloudy weather. January 1994 and January 1999 were also very "cool". The heatwaves didn't last long, and there were a lot of days 14 C / 23 C. In the last years, though, I've seen that January tends to concentrate the strongest and longest heat. Let's hope it isn't like that this season, but I'm afraid it will be.

Here in São Paulo, it is raining and overcast since Christmas... Cities at seaside have seen high levels of precipitation( Ubatuba-SãoPaulo - Brazil: 222 milimeters[ about 9 inches] within latest 24h). I just hope it to get sunny again near New Year's eve...

I did not realise that Buenos Aires was capable of such sustained heat, 10 days in a row above 90F or 32C.
By contrast, many centres here are yet to record 30C this summer, and this is places in the Hunter Valley where the average is near 30 anyway.
At this stage, only 4 days this month have reached or exceeded the average maximum for December at Newcastle Airport, and the same for Sydney.
This would be the most relentless display of below average temps since November 1998, and December 2000 where 24 out of 31 days were below average.
Days over 30C will not start to the New Year:
