april, come already!!!
I detest that as well, although fortunately I do not have to experience it here in the other hemisphere. I consider it detestable weather, but keep Winston Churchill's quite in mind - if you're going through hell, keep going.

Getting a fair bit of haze here due to a fire along the south coast of Western Australia. Produced a spectacular sunset last night.

Perth haze could linger for two days as South-West fire burns | Perth Now

High of 14.9 C yesterday. Glad to see some people are having true summer weather because it's not happening here.

In my case, however, things are only going to get worse. This is pretty much as good as it gets for the next year.

On the contrary, relative to normals, it's very unlikely to get worse, and virtually certain to get better - given that your February so far is very cool and exceptionally cloudy. They're not doing very well in grape country (Marlborough) either, at present.

I'd much prefer NZs cool temps to the sickly brown skies of SW WA. Bushfires are no good for anyone.

In my neck of the woods, mostly fine with sunshine most of the day and a repeat in store tomorrow. However, troughy weather is expected to redevelop over the weekend .

Hehe, ok, but don't be glad for me. I'm suffering it!

It's been cloudy here this month, although last time I checked , Marlborough was quite a bit worse(56 vs 32 hours as of the 13th) The last 3 months have all started out cloudy. March/April rarely disappoint for sunshine.

I've really enjoyed this summer. The absence of hot weather has been offset by higher humidity, and a feeling of prolonged warmth that seems to have started back in October. Sea temps have been warmer as well.

Those waterspouts in Auckland yesterday were impressive, right in the harbour as well.

Those totals are quite pathologically poor for February! We're up to 61 hours at the 15th, the lowest since at least 1954, and possibly the lowest ever. Checking the local records, however, the next 2 lowest tallies as at the 15th were in months where the second half was sunny.

Don't keep counting on March-April - central NZ in particular has a had a longish run of Marches sunnier than the LTA, and April has been that way as well to a lesser extent.

You would be in a rather small minority if you've enjoyed the season I think. A dry January with normal sun doesn't compensate for a wet cloudy December and a very cloudy Feb. (to date). It helps of course that your last summer with a significant deficiency was 2006-07, whereas here it's the 3rd consecutive one that's short of normal.
