We can get highs in the single digits (F) and maybe two or three nights a year below zero anywhere between December and February, most likely in January. The hottest you can expect on a regular basis is a bit over 70F (close to 80 if it's getting really crazy) anywhere from late May to early August. Our small annual temperature range and maritime influence means that there's not really one peak time for high or low temps, it just depends on the patterns coming out of the Gulf.
Late July and early August is the warmest time of the year with 22° C highs and 15° C lows on average. Late January and early February are the coldest, that's when cold waves from Siberia usually arrive.

Exactly the same for us except our summer highs are closer to 30C and the winter winds come from Hudson Bay and the Arctic, not Siberia.
warm period is from mid April to mid November with average daily highs above 80F
hottest period is from late July to mid September with highs in mid 90s and most of 100F+ days occur during this period
cool period is from late November to mid March when daily highs are in low 70s, nearly all rain occurs in this period
coldest period is in mid december to mid January when yearly cold snaps send temps into low 40s or even in some years to high 30s.

Looks like Chicago sees more below zero nights than you do.

Frequently, the coldest temperature of the year happens in January instead of February, despite the fact that February is only 0.5C warmer.
