I'd take a colder winter before a warmer summer though!

Wow, I didn't know I would get so many answers so quickly ! I'll create and upload the chart as soon as possible

For me:

Winter: -10
Summer: -10

Both are right at the upper boundary of the cold end of the scales, in case you're wondering. Perhaps the scale could be extended to accommodate more extreme climates (and there are plenty of them).
! This is beyond my comprehension but I was hoping for some extreme answers !

I agree that the scale does not allow for the most extreme tastes and I knew some of you would find it too narrow; it's just hard to get an even distribution from -10 to +10.

The purpose of my chart is to show roughly and at a glance what everyone's thermal preference is, and I think if you like winters that cold, whether under -14°C or under -20°C, I think you clearly belong to the cooooold zone and same for summers above 32°C; that's anything from Phoenix to Death Valley.

@ SophieLL :

Right now I live in Nice so that's +2 in winter and +1 in summer; respectively 7 and 4 points away from what I'd like though I spent half a year in a climate that was only 1 point away from my ideal in total (Singapore; +10/5 instead of +9/5)

Anyway, thanks to all of you for the answers, keep 'em coming, I'll work on it asap

Current climate:
winter -1
summer -5

Very far from my ideal of +9 and +5

I find it entertaining that the 'standard winter' on this board is the same as an average January in London.

My ideal climate would be London's with 2-3C added to the summer average highs and 6-7C added to the winter average highs; basically an island in the western Mediterranean.

I'd likely die of boredom from a January in London

Well I calculated it by averaging winter temps of cities on this list : Global city - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I first tried to use the list of most populated cities but so many of them were tropical or subtropical (in India, Africa, etc.) that average winter temps ended up ridiculously high and would have failed to represent the "average" winter experienced by us on this forum.

Here it is ! The first version at least...

Please let me know if there are any errors (or if you can't see the image), and those who haven't posted yet, you are welcome to; I would be glad to add more!

I am sincerely surprised to be the "northeasternmost" on that chart, at least so far. I did not expect to be the most resilient heat lover Only deneb78 shares my winter preferences and no one likes summers as hot as my ideal ones - yet.

I suspect that if ColdCanadian were to tell us his ratings, he would be higher than me on the summer axis

A first interesting observation : those who posted seem to like either clearly warm climates or clearly cold climates, but close to no one likes an extreme continental climate (Chicago/Beijing); similarly, except SophieLL few of you expressed their preference for a notably mild climate.

Well done on the chart. Now we have a graphical representation, should try and match each person to a city/country!

Interesting we have no one that likes a hot summer but cold winter.

Winter : +9
Summer : +6

I live in Australia (a couple of hours south of Brisbane) - and generally love the climate.
