The US east of the Rockies, the desert southwest, and Hawaii have warm nights in summer (Hawaii has warm nights year round, though). But most of the US west of the Rockies has cool nights in summer-55-65F generally. What do you prefer?

I like my summer nights in the 70's & 80's.

I'm kind of ambivalent about warm nights. On the one hand I really enjoy chilling in an outdoor bar or a beer garden or just someone's backyard after a late BBQ (or a rooftop if you're in a big city). I feel like I shouldn't need long sleeves (let alone a sweater) on summer nights even if I'm not moving around much.

On the other hand, I like to be able to open the windows up and let nice cool fresh air in to sleep well. I'm not sure I want to rely on AC to be able to sleep comfortably. If it's too hot at night to sleep without AC then that means your AC is on 24/7, which I don't like.

I think for me 64F-68F would be the perfect range.

If it could stay warm, in the 70s, for an hour or two after sunset, and then drop off into the 58 to 66 degree range after that, that would be great.

I'm rather torn. I like opening my windows here in SoCal at night in summer, letting in that breezy, 65F air in as the marine layer rolls in. But I also miss those muggy 75F July nights in DC, with all the fireflies everywhere, and watching the thunderstorms on my screen porch. Overall I like the warm nights in summer more, but still like the cool nights as well. I don't even wear a sweatshirt at night in summer here in San Diego. I don't find the nights too cold, and we still get the occasional warm night.

I can't understand why someone would want hot summer nights when the entire day has already been hot (and keep in mind it does not get dark until about 8:00 or so). I prefer cool nights. Another practical consideration is you won't have to use the AC at night (save some $).

BTW, I love the summer nights where I live. The nights here in Salinas are usually on the cool side.

Our lows here are about 13C 55F, ideally I'd have lows of around 21C 70F.

London has lows of 13-15C, Brisbane has lows of 18-21C. I'd be happy with both, maybe somewhere around 17-18C.
