Where did you get that it's a record cold winter in Europe? It just isn't, and I'm not talking only about Paris. Just compare temps with 1962-1963 for various countries.

Europe was warm overall in December:

Less so in January, but still above average.

Check the base period. Should use 1981-2010. No, January to current its below normal. But yes, Using December to current it looks normal.

Left is from January 1st to current. Right is from mid January to current. Much much below after mid January.

Parts of Europe had Record cold temps and Snow end of January beginning of February. If you need a list of what city and town, I for sure dont have time to do that and that would be insane.

Whole purpose of this thread was to show "Global" temps. I should rephrase the "Record Europe Winter" as it was not entirely accurate. Thanks for pointing it out. Is Autralia at least correct? Record cold Summer?

Its so warm in the U.S that any place cool feels like a record now. LOL

1981-2010 climatology is not yet formally calculated and confirmed for all areas, even if Europe, UK and the USA are OK in that respect.

Re Australia, December 13/62 for Tmax and 20.5/62 for Tmin; January 13/63 for Tmax and 30/63 for Tmin (1= coldest, 62 or 63 =warmest).
So up to end-January, nowhere near the coldest.

Sydney is on track for its coldest summer since 1965 with an average temperature so far at just over 21˚C.

Sydney’s maximum temperatures this summer have averaged 24.5˚C, over one degree below average and putting us on track to be the lowest since 1953.”

“Temperatures across south-eastern Australia will remain well below average this week as cool southerly winds persist,” he concludes.

Adelaide in Southern Australia has failed to warm to 25 degrees in each of the last eight days, which makes it the longest run of days this cool in February since 1990.

The last time there was a longer run of sub-25-degree days in February was in 1972, 40 years ago. In that February there were 10 in a row below 24 degrees.

February is typically the warmest time of the year with a long-term average maximum of 29.4 degrees.

Actually, january was like the 3rd hottest summer in history here in BA. So, that data is wrong, it should point out we are having hellish temps here.
December:

average min: 17.5°C (-0.6°C)
average max: 27.9°C (-0.3°C)

January:

average min: 20.6°C (+0.5°C)
average max: 31.7°C (+1.7°C)
(third warmest in record with a mean temp of 26.2ºC))

February at the moment is above average. I think whole summer is above too. We'll see how it ends.

Of all the major Australian cities its only been significantly cooler than average in Sydney and Canberra, Adelaide has had a cool start to February but the rest of the summer has seen above average temperatures. Brisbane has had an average summer to date whilst Perth is having another warmer than average summer.

Nationally its cooler than average but won't beat last year's cool summer due to the extremely heavy rainfall (2nd wettest year recorded) in 2010-11.

Here's how Australia looks from December 1 to now. Hard to argue with facts.
More than 50% is having a cooler than normal summer.

Back to my original statement(revised)

While some parts of Europe is experiencing an extremely cold Winter, .. Some parts of Australia is experiencing an extremely Cold Summer. And while Most of the Earth is cool, the U.S is experiencing a warm Winter. N. America is the only spot in the Northern Hemisphere thats been warm all along.
