But you did include France.
I'd argue that Southern France has a better climate than anywhere in Washington, Oregon,Idaho,BC...

Maybe northern California and southern Oregon fit very well with both Spain and Portugal overall, but I guess the best "counterpart" of southern California should be Morocco.

Yes, posters often assume the best "Old World" counterpart of southern California is somewhere too far north.

Spain is in Western Europe. Look on a map. California is not in the Pacific Northwest. The comparison is completely fair. Excluding Spain but including areas east of the Cascades isn't fair, since you are clearly not comparing like-for-like.

Including Sweden and Norway in Western Europe while excluding Spain and Portugal makes no sense.

Part of Northern California is actually part of the PNW. Someone decided to draw a line one day and call it California, but really if you look at the area from Crescent city to a bit north of Bodega Bay, it is still Considered the PNW. Based on watersheds, climate, ecosystems

Perhaps I should have said Northwest Europe then.. I guess that's what I really meant.

Also even if the interior region is not considered PNW there are some pockets of dry areas in the west such as Sequim, WA
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sequ...ington#Climate
405.9mm (15.98 in) of precipitation

I think even parts of Spain can barely match that aridity and Vantage is at 47N
