I'm not sure how common it is for this to be an issue during the spring, but this year the conditions couldn't be more ripe for brush fires - very dry, windy air and a lack of snowpack and rainfall. Quite a turn around from the past couple winters and springs.

Has it been dry and windy up in Toronto?

Looks like the 84 degrees was a mistake, now it says the highest it'll get all week is 72 F.

Of course dryness has a big relative component and depends on the type of vegetation. The level of moisture that would make a New England forest burn would be considered normal or even wetter than usual in a state like Montana.

I was kinda hoping we might get some actual thunderstorms out of our unstable weather setup today, but in the style of 2011's miserable convection failure it is more likely to be 2-3 boring ghey drizzle showers which is all we had last year, the weather's been boring for years now, book me in for a summer in FLA, FFS.

GFS has another trough dig down after the quick weekend warmup. And throws snow down. 1-2" in spots. I wonder how much it has to snow to lay down 1-2" being the surface and sun is warm.

Why couldnt this pattern happen 3 months ago. I shouldnt complain since we dont have that constant 10-20 degree above normal pattern anymore.

This is for the 19th. Still Loooong range so anything can and will change

Yeah, it's been dry and pretty windy for the past little while. There have been many gusty days since the March heat wave ended and in terms of dryness, it seems late winter to spring has been very lacking in much snow or rain overall -- the ground surface hasn't been very wet for very much this spring but the grass is green and nice and the flowers out for some time now though.

In terms of temperature itself, it has been not that different from average since the March heat passed, though it has been sunny and dry.

There was some (light) rain today and I see a fair number of rain days in the forecast for this week though, so it looks like there will be some April showers now.
