McKinley Park, Alaska - Western Regional Climate Center

This subarctic climate (Koeppen Dfc), located near Denali, features long, cold winters and short, warm summers. Nights are cool or cold throughout the year. The hottest month averages 66/43F (19/6C), and the coldest month averages 9/-7F (-13/-22C). Average precipitation is low, at 15.12 inches per year (384 mm), with July being the wettest month and April the driest. Snowfall averages 79.6 inches per season (202.2 cm), with the snowiest month being December. Each month from September through May averages 1 inch (2.5 cm) or more of snowfall. The average snow depth peaks in March at 21 inches (53 cm). The all-time record high is 91 and the all-time record low is -54 (source).

As for myself, it's one of, if not the best climates in Alaska. Summers and Winters are near-perfect, and snowfall is sufficient, although it could do with much more. Winters are too long for my taste, but the sublime summer makes up for it. There's no problem with rainfall. Record highs and lows are sheer perfection, with the exception of wintertime record highs, which I'd prefer to be cooler. Overall I would give it a grade of "A" .

B-

Loving the snow, but summers are slightly too cool (would prefer average highs at around 70F) while winters are too cold and too long. Doesn't look like it gets many thunderstorms either.

I believe this data is collected near the park entrance.

Upsides:
The winters are a bit cold but not bad overall.
There are some fantastic summer days (albeit not very summer-like).
This climate supports a very pretty taiga biome.

Downsides:
The WRCC doesn't track cloud cover, but I know from experience that clear days are a rarity.
Summer isn't warm enough at all.
The growing season is too short for reliable agriculture - http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/cgi-bin/cliFrezD.pl?ak5778

another misuse of English words. This is worse than calling 42F freezing cold. If hell is really a freezer, I wouldn't mind going there at all actually.

I love how the night time lows in june and august are almost identical. With the nightly lows being no higher than 43, I could sleep soundly for as long as I want to.

A-

Winters a little colder than ideal, but overall a great climate. Snowfall is decent and summers are comfortable.
